Hi. This is the new blog I have just started to coincide with the completion of my new book, ‘Bloody Hell, What’s An Alpaca?’ Since we moved to Andalucia, nearly five years ago, so many amazing (and terrible) things have happened to us, and so many people have said, ‘God, you should write a book!’, that I decided the time was right.
The book starts in the UK with us making the decision to move and depicts our first three years here in Spain. Hopefully people will find it to be an entertaining read, and also, be a bit informative about the world of alpacas that we decided to get involved in. Often people ask us, ‘Why alpacas?’ so hopefully those people will have all their questions answered.
When we decided to move to Spain, it was the very height of the property market, and to be perfectly blunt, the financial crisis that has gripped the world for the last five years has coincided with this immensely tough and challenging period in our lives. Hopefully, we will emerge, one day, still sane, and much better people having risen to the challenges that we have faced.
I will use this blog to give you an insight into why we decided to move here, that being mainly Lorna’s Sarcoidosis, and also to give you a real insight into our day to day lives, living in rural Spain, totally off grid, with only solar electricity, water from a spring and often nobody around us for days at a time.
I hope you enjoy it, and please feel free to get in touch with us if you are interested in anything we are doing, we would love to hear from you.
